Bundesliga giants to move for Chelsea outcast
Bayer Leverkusen are preparing a summer move for Chelsea winger Kevin De Bruyne, according to reports from talkSPORT.
The Belgian international is yet to make a Premier League appearance for the Blues since his 2012 arrival from Genk.
Upon completion of his £6.7m move, the 21-year-old was immediately loaned back to his former club and has spent this season in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen.
Some impressive performances in Germany, during which he has netted six goals in 26 appearances, have alerted Bayer Leverkusen, who are keen to test Chelsea’s willingness to hold onto their man with a summer move.
The Londoners have a number of players, including the likes of Juan Mata, Eden Hazard and Victor Moses, who play in De Bruyne’s favoured position, which could limit his chances of playing time.
But, Chelsea are likely to be keen to hold onto the youngster, and could permit another loan move to allow him to gain first-team experience.
However, Bayer Leverkusen could tempt the Stamford Bridge outfit by accepting De Bruyne as part of a deal for the club’s long-term target Andre Schurrle.
The pacey German is seen as one of Europe’s top emerging talents, and has attracted attention from a number of top clubs from across the continent.
