Champions League defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk was just a minor blip.

The Blues slipped to a 2-1 loss away in Ukraine and will need to recover in time for Sunday’s Premier League clash with Manchester United.

Cech is adamant that the squad will be eager to bounce back against the Red Devils and that the performance was just a one-off:

“We have done well so far this season and kept the balance in the team but against Shakhtar that wasn’t the case.” He told The Sun.

“We allowed them too much space and this was the key. If you give technical players that much space, you will always have problems.

“It was an open game and we didn’t want to play a match like this.

“But this loss doesn’t take away our rhythm.”

Despite the result Cech performed well, building on his impressive outing during the weekend’s 4-2 victory over Tottenham.

The stopper, who captained the side during the win, believes that they must start brightly if they are to continue their form:

“We need to change the way we start games.

“Against Shakhtar, we started the game slowly out of the blocks and I think that’s one thing not to repeat.

“To get better concentration from the first minute is how you can deal with it.

“If you are unlucky and someone scores goals, you can’t control this.

“But we lacked a bit of concentration.”
