The Metro.

The Belgian is currently on loan with Atletico Madrid, where he has carved out a reputation as one of Europe’s top young stoppers with a series of impressive displays.

His fine form has caught the eye of Barca, who are known to be in the market for a new ‘keeper next summer to replace the soon-to-be out of contract Victor Valdes.

Although he is yet to make an appearance for the London club, Courtois is believed to be ready to call time on his Chelsea career to secure a dream switch to the Nou Camp.

The 21-year-old could face an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge should he return next season, with Petr Cech firmly established as Jose Mourinho’s number one.

Courtois is desperate to play regularly in a bid to maintain his spot as Belgium’s top goalkeeper, with Liverpool’s Simon Mignolet breathing down his neck.

A move to Barca may give him the platform he needs with regular action for one of the continent’s top club sides.

Courtois moved to Chelsea from Genk in 2010, but has spent his entire Blues career with Atletico.
