Former Chelsea assistant manager Ray Wilkins believes that Fernando Torres has no future in west London.

The Spanish striker bore the brunt of Jose Mourinho’s criticism after Wednesday’s Champions League loss to PSG, with the Blues chief openly questioning his ability to make a serious impact over 90 minutes at the highest level.

Torres is widely regarded as a big money flop, with the once prolific forward having failed to transfer his form from Liverpool to Chelsea following his eye-watering £50m switch in 2011.

Although he has shown glimpses of his ability this term, the 30-year-old’s days at Stamford Bridge are coming to an end, according to Wilkins:

“Torres has no future at Chelsea,” he is quoted by The Metro.

“I think he has seen his time out there.

“He moved from a Liverpool side where he was so successful as an individual to Chelsea, where the style of play is so different.

“He needs the space in behind people in which to run. He needs to make those runs though. He needs to make the players find him

“Sometimes it is down to the individual. He needs to try and make something happen.’

Torres has netted just nine goals this season, and with Chelsea tracking a number of big name strikers ahead of the summer his days in the blue shirt look to be numbered.

Inter Milan and former club Atletico Madrid are rumoured to be interested in a deal.
