Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o looks set to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer, after opening talks with Turkish club Besiktas over a free transfer, according to the Metro.

The 33-year-old is set to see his contract with Chelsea expire at the end of the season, and is not likely to be offered a new deal, despite firing 12 goals for Jose Mourinho’s side this season.

Mourinho had previously hinted he would be ready to offer the Cameroon international a new deal, but it looks as though Besiktas are set to lure him away.

The Turkish club are understood to have flown officials over to London this week to open talks, with a two-year-contract believed to be on the table.

It remains unclear as to whether Eto’o would be keen on swapping the Premier League for Turkey, but the prospect of a 24 month contract as well as the possibility of joining the coaching staff afterwards, may well prove appealing.

Besiktas have a good relationship with Chelsea, and have been trying to sign a top striker for months.

They held talks with Chelsea’s Demba Ba during the January transfer window, but could not agree a deal.
