Chelsea midfielder Ramires believes that the club should swoop to bring former star Nemanja Matic back to the club from Benfica in January.

The Serbian ace spent some time earlier in his career at Stamford Bridge, but failed to make the grade before being shipped out to the Portuguese club as a part of the deal that took David Luiz to London.

Since then he has flourished in Lisbon, developing into one of the European football’s top holding midfielders.

This has seen Jose Mourinho linked with a move to bring him back to the club, with ‘The Special One’ known to be looking for a robust central player to aid his side’s title push.

Ramires – who used to play for Benfica – believes that adding Matic to their squad would help Chelsea in their quest to lift the Premier League trophy at the end of the season:

“If it depends on me then I would sign Matic on January 1. I’m convinced with him in the team, he would help us our obtain our objectives.” He is quoted by The Mirror.

Matic has previously hinted that he would consider a move back to England, and has also been linked with Manchester United and Liverpool.
