Jose Mourinho has revealed that Petr Cech isn’t entirely happy with his current role in the Chelsea squad, but that he has reacted in a “fantastic” manner to recent events.

The experienced Czech goalkeeper found his 10 year run as the Blues’ No. 1 brought to a close on Monday as he warmed the bench with Thibaut Courtois selected ahead of him.

Mourinho’s decision is expected to be one that will echo through the season, with the highly-rated Belgian being hailed as the Londoners’ new stopper of choice after an impressive three-year loan sting at Atletico Madrid.

It’s understood that ‘The Special One’ has given Courtois reassurances of his playing time, which were necessary to get him back to the club this summer and keep him out of the clutches of sides such as Real Madrid and Atleti.

Cech has since been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, with rumours suggesting that he’s frustrated with recent events.

Although Mourinho knows that the 32-year-old is not at his happiest, he believes he’s taken the change well:

“He’s a top professional. He’s working as always, behaving as always, being a group man as always, being a Chelsea man as always.” He is quoted by Sky Sports.

“Is he totally happy? I don’t believe. It’s not him. It’s everyone that didn’t start the game. This period is hard for them and for me because it’s one with one match per week. The first three matches, they clearly feel that some are playing more and some are not.

“In September, we have the Capital One Cup, Premier League and Champions League. There will be three matches a week and everybody playing with rotation, resting and decisions. September is easier for them and me in the sense that everyone feels much better.

“Petr’s behaviour is fantastic and that’s important.”
