Metro reports.

The club captain’s staunch resistance to signing two previously offered contracts has led technical director Martin Van Geel to urge board members to consider the sale of Feyenoord’s most prized possession.

De Vrij, 20, is unwilling to sign on the dotted line unless the club can outline a vision to improve the team, who currently sit at a comfortable 5th spot in the Eredivisie after beating lowly AZ Alkmaar on Sunday 2-0.

While Arsenal, Newcastle and Sunderland are all said to be interested in the ambitious defender, Chelsea are believed to be drawing up a January bid. With the player’s contract up in 2014, Feyenoord will not be panicked into selling at a low price.

However, the offer will be seen as an appealing one for the young Dutch international as it offers a chance for de Vrij to fulfil the ambitions that have previously stopped him from committing to the club.
