Chelsea join transfer race for St Etienne ace

Chelsea have joined the race for the summer transfer of St Etienne striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Daily Mail are reporting that Chelsea scouts went to watch the young star play in St Etienne’s 2-2 draw on Friday evening, where Aubameyang scored his 17th goal of his campaign.
The French-born player has been one of the superstars of Ligue 1 this season, lighting up the league with his speed and deadly finishing. Although he is under contract until 2016, Aubameyang has stated his desire to leave in the summer, alerting Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund, as well as Chelsea.
After singing Belgian wonder-kid Eden Hazard from French side Lille last season, Chelsea look set to try and sign another talented youngster from across the English Chanel.
The number seven has enjoyed his time at St Etienne, after making his loan spell at the club permanent in December 2011, singing from AC Milan. Despite being born in France, Aubameyang decided to play internationally for Gabon, following the footsteps of his father Pierre Francois Aubameyang, who was capped by Gabon 80 times.
Aubameyang is getting used to the media spotlight too. In the warm up to his side’s match against Lyon, he wore a £2500 pair of Swarovski crystal encrusted boots. The boots took more than 50 hours to cover with 4,000 tiny jewels. The Gabon international will be looking to dazzle in St Etienne’s next match away to Troyes at the end of March.
