The Metro.

‘Mad Mario’ – who was well known for his off-field antics – left Manchester City earlier this year to return to Italy following a hot and cold spell in England.

Despite registering an impressive 15 goals in 17 Serie A outings, the powerful forward is rumoured to be on the verge of being forced out of the San Siro.

Milan have grown frustrated by his actions away from the field of play, and are believed to be ready to sell.

Balotelli’s agent, Mino Raiola, has opened the door for his client to make a winter move by claiming that he receives a disproportionate amount of media interest:

“There is an exaggerated amount of attention on him,” he said.

“We all need to calm down and analyse how things are going with Milan.

“Italy will not be the final stage of his career, for sure.”

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is thought to have been alerted by this as he steps up his plans to lure a top class goalscorer to Stamford Bridge when the transfer window re-opens.

Balotelli is believed to be valued at around £30m by the Italian side.

Could Mario Balotelli be a Chelsea icon?
