Frank Lampard says that he will make an announcement about his future “very shortly”.

Chelsea‘s all-time leading goalscorer was recently released after failing to agree a new deal at Stamford, Bridge, and is currently looking for a new club.

Although there are rumoured to be offers from Premier League sides for the 36-year-old, a switch to the MLS looks likely, with the newly formed New York City FC frontrunners.

The Big Apple-based franchise will not officially enter the division until 2015, which could see ‘Lamps’ loaned to Melbourne City – another club under the umbrella of Manchester City – in a move that would follow that of David Villa.

Lampard was adamant throughout the World Cup that his future was not up for debate as he concentrated on the Three Lions’ campaign, but now the veteran says that his decision will be clear soon:

“At the moment I have got a few options.” He is quoted by the Daily Star. “There is no exclusive but I will be making a decision very shortly.”

Lampard netted 211 goals in 13 years for Chelsea, and is widely considered as one of the club’s very best players.
