Thibaut Courtois has suggested that he may be returning to Chelsea this summer after holding talks with Jose Mourinho.

The Belgian goalkeeper has spent three successive seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid since signing for the Blues in 2011 from Genk, where he has developed a reputation as one of Europe’s best stoppers.

After helping his adopted side to a the La Liga title and a the Champions League Final last term, there has been talk that he could be unwilling to relocate to west London where he would be in direct competition with Petr Cech for a staring berth.

The 22-year-old has subsequently been linked with a permanent move to Atleti, while cross-city rivals Real Madrid are also believed to be monitoring the situation.

However Courtois says that he is not considering a transfer after chatting with Mourinho:

“I received a phone call from Mourinho a few weeks ago. This was before the match against Barcelona. But the conversation stays private,” he is quoted by The Metro.

“I have two year contract at Chelsea… This is not the time to think about a transfer.”

Courtois may well be followed from Atletico to Chelsea by Tiago, Diego Costa, Diego Godin and Filipe Luis, who are all on Mourinho’s transfer hit-list.
