Thibaut Courtois has plunged his Chelsea future into doubt by revealing that he is unsure of where he will be next season.

The Belgian goalkeeper capped his three-year spell at Atletico Madrid by winning the La Liga title over the weekend, and could even add the Champions League to his list of honours in a few days’ time.

Courtois has developed into one of the world’s most promising stoppers in the Spanish capital, but despite his standing he has never played a game for his current parent side after being loaned out in 2011 straight after signing from Genk.

Numerous reports have suggested that Jose Mourinho is ready to re-call the 22-year-old for next season and make him his first choice ‘keeper ahead of Petr Cech.

But despite this, when speaking after league success of the weekend, Courtois was dismissive about his future:

“I have a huge amount of affection for the club.” He is quoted by the Daily Star.

“I never could have dreamed of this three years ago and I’m really grateful.

“We’ll see what happens with my future, there’s nothing decided yet.

“Don’t forget there’s the World Cup coming up too.

“We have to keep calm and see what happens.”
