Chelsea are lining up a mega money swoop for Juventus’ World Cup star Paul Pogba, according to reports from Goal.

The former Manchester United trainee has emerged as one of the stars of European football since abandoning ship at Old Trafford in 2012, winning two Serie A titles with the Old Lady.

His performances have seen his value rocket to £60m – even though he was a free signing – and led to links with some of the continent’s biggest spenders.

Although Juve has shown a willingness to resist offers, Chelsea are ready to test their resolve with a lucrative bid.

Even though the London club have snapped up Cesc Fabregas and look set snare Diego Costa – two deals that will be worth around £60m – owner Roman Abramovich is willing to sanction a move for a player Jose Mourinho values highly.

‘The Special One’ wants to team Pogba with Nemanja Matic in the centre of his midfield as he looks to make the Londoners European football’s top force.

The 21-year-old has been starring for France at the World Cup recently, and should he help Les Blues go further into the competition after making it out of the group stage his value may rise further.
