Chelsea set to be disappointed as Peruvian pledges his future
Peruvian striker Paolo Guerrero has distanced himself from speculation of a move to Chelsea, by insisting he is happy with Corinthians.
The 28-year-old is a rumoured target for the Premier League club, as well as the likes of Fiorentina, Atletico Madrid and Juventus.
But, Guerrero has ruled out leaving the Club World Cup winners, maintaining that he is happy where he is:
“I will stay.” He is quoted by Globo Esporte, reported by Sky Sports.
“I have a contract and I am very happy playing for Corinthians.”
Guerrero only joined Corinthians for £3m from Hamburg during July, but has made an instant impact with the club, attracting much interest from top European sides.
As a result of this, his employers have placed a £30m asking price on him, although they would likely accept a lower figure should a serious bid emerge.
He was a key part of Corinthians’ Club World Cup winning squad, netting important goals against Al-Ahly and Chelsea.
Prior to moving to Brazil Guerrero spent ten years in Europe, playing for Bayern Munich before moving to Hamburg.
He was a regular scorer for both Bundesliga clubs, but elected to leave the Imtech Arena last summer to return to his home continent.
