Europa League.

The Blues have endured a turbulent campaign, with former manager Roberto Di Matteo receiving his marching orders and the club being eliminated during the group stages of the Champions League.

Realistically, they are also out of the race for the Premier League title, with 16 points separating them from leaders Manchester United.

As well as this, they face a potentially tricky FA Cup replay with Brentford, with an away clash at Middlesbrough awaiting them in the Fifth Round should they progress.

These factors mean that the Europa League may be their only shot at silverware this season, and Terry has called upon his team to take the competition seriously ahead of their last-32 tie with Sparta Prague:

“We’re now in the Europa League and there is one message – we have to go and win it. It’s as simple as that.” He is quoted by The Mirror.

“At the minute, the season hasn’t been successful,” said the Blues midfielder. “We should be challenging for titles rather than third or fourth, but we’re not. And we’ve not won some cups, we’ve been knocked out.

“Now we have to grab the fact that there’s a lot of games to play and we have to try to win something.”

However, he is fully aware of the club’s need to balance European and domestic fixtures with qualification for next year’s Champions League a must:

“We must make sure that, after those European matches, we come back and win our Premier League fixtures.

“A lot of the time, we are going to be a game behind the teams around us by the time we play, so we have to respond with wins.”
