Chelsea winger Andre Schurrle is hopeful that his side can show their character and bounce back from a tough week with wins against Stoke and Paris Saint-Germain in the coming days.

The Blues topped the Premier League table until a shock loss at Crystal Palace last Saturday, and then followed up that disappointment with a 3-1 defeat in European action to leave their chances of making the semi-finals hanging by a thread.

Despite Jose Mourinho’s claims, the London club are firmly in the hunt for the double this term, but they know that results must turn around quickly if they are to claim silverware.

Schurrle – who has been playing a key role in Chelsea’s starting XI of late – is hopeful that they can overcome the Potters at Stamford Bridge today before reversing their disadvantage against PSG in midweek:

“It’s very bad. It is the worst time of the season to get these defeats. We know we have to improve in away games.” He is quoted by the Daily Star.

“Can we win against PSG? It’s very, very difficult. We know that. But I think ‘Impossible is Nothing’.

“We know we are very good at Stamford Bridge at home with the fans at our back so we have to think we can try to win this.

“We have to keep fighting until the end. Of course, of course – and now in the league against Stoke we have to win, we play at home and we will see what we can do against Paris.”
