Eden Hazard has told Chelsea team mate Kevin De Bruyne to quit the club in order to save his World Cup dream, according to the Daily Star.

De Bruyne has been Belgium’s top goal scorer in their impressive World Cup qualifying campaign, but has struggled to break into the Chelsea first team under Jose Mourinho.

In fact he is yet to play a full 90 minutes for the club since signing in January 2012.

And now fellow Blues star Eden Hazard has told his international team mate to quit the club in January in order to keep his World Cup spot.

“Playing at a World Cup without being in action for a year, I think that’s very difficult,” said Hazard.

“I think for him that leaving and playing would be good.

“If we want to get the best out of Kevin, it’s best if he leaves.”

De Bruyne, 22, arrived at Chelsea in January 2012 for a fee of £7million.

However, he spent the first 18 months of his Chelsea career on loan, first at former club Genk, and then with Bundesliga side Werder Bremen, where he enjoyed his most impressive spell of form.

He has been consistently linked with a return to Germany since, after failing to impress Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.

De Bruyne was back in first team action for his country against Colombia last week, and afterwards said his future lay in the hands of his manager.

“For me, it is just nice to play again, to stand on the pitch and not be sidelined,” De Bruyne said.

“It’s always difficult for players when they are next to the team. Chelsea is my club, Jose is my boss and he will decide what is going to happen.”
