Frank Lampard has admitted he would love to see Didier Drogba return to Chelsea, according to Sky Sports.

Drogba returned to Stamford Bridge with Galatasary on Tuesday evening, and was given a rousing reception by the Chelsea fans.

The 36-year-old is out of contract with the Turkish giants in the summer, and a possible return to Stamford Bridge as a part of the coaching staff has been mentioned.

There have even been suggestions Drogba could return as a player before that, and Lampard admits he would love to see his former teammate make an emotional return.

“Of course I’d like to see Didier back as a coach or as a player,” Lampard told the Evening Standard.

“The manager said before the game that you can’t see him not being part of the club in some shape or form.

“It’s up to him and the club, but he’s always going to be regarded as a legend and held in the top bracket in this club.

“I’m sure if he can give something back, I’m sure Didier would love to.”

Drogba had little impact during Tuesday’s last 16 clash, but Lampard insists it was always going to be a big ask for him.

“It was probably a difficult game for him,” he added.

“We controlled the game and he didn’t get much service. I think it was hard for him, but he’s still a massive threat with his power.

“Obviously we wanted to win the game, but we had a lot of respect for him coming back here and I was pleased with the reception he got.”
