Chelsea are plotting a £35m offer to beat Manchester United and Arsenal to Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho, according to reports from A Bola.

The Portuguese midfielder has been heavily linked with a switch to the Premier League for much of 2014 after emerging as one of Europe’s finest young enforcers.

United reportedly had an agreement with him ahead of the summer, but David Moyes’ exit scuppered plans to get the 22-year-old to Old Trafford.

Arsenal have since been linked with Carvalho, but Sporting’s demands have caused Arsene Wenger to baulk.

Now it’s understood that Chelsea are leading the pack, despite Jose Mourinho having invested heavily in his squad this transfer window.

It’s believed that a £35m offer is in the pipeline, with ‘The Special One’ keen to further strengthen his engine room for an assault on the Premier League and Champions League.

Carvalho represents Portugal at international level, but was born in Angola – a country he left when he was only a few years old.

Wenger is such a ditherer that he misses nearly every player he needs. Good luck to Chelsea if they get Carvalho, except they don’t need him as much as Arsenal. Chelsea got Juan Mata because Wenger dithered and now they will get the fantastic William Carvalho. Chelsea will become a world class team and Arsenal will suffer Arsene Wenger and be good but fairly ordinary. As an Arsenal supporter that makes me sick. What the **** is up with Arsene Wenger.

But we must also thank Mr Wenger for passing on your once beloved captain Fabs. I honestly dont know what you lot was thinking because even looking at it from an unbiased view he would have been perfect for you.
Bringing Drogs back we know hes not the lad he was in 2009/10. hes lost a second or 2 and not as sgarp but even if we use him for 15/20 mins a game hes worth it even if its for the enthusiasm and how he unites both the team and fans. Fabs is blinkin excellent and hes in Chelsea blue!
