Chelsea’s hopes of luring Radamel Falcao to Stamford Bridge have been dealt a massive blow, with Monaco’s vice-president claiming that the striker is happy at the club.

The Blues have been linked with a stunning £80m January swoop for the Colombian ace, who is rumoured to be unsettled at the Stade Lois II following his summer move.

Chelsea were in the race for Falcao during the last window, but ultimately lost out to Monaco’s financial muscle.

Despite being relatively successful on the field of play, the 27-year-old is speculated to be ready to leave after failing to settle in the Principality – where he earns a massive tax-free salary.

Reports have suggested that the Ligue 1 side may be willing to sell their man for a quick profit, but their vice-president, Vadim Vasilyev, has scrapped talk that Falcao is set to leave.

“He is very happy here, he feels very good in Monaco. He loves this club,”Vasilyev told Sky Sports.

Jose Mourinho is believed to have made a top class striker his main priority heading into January, with the likes of Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o having failed to convince him of their abilities.
