Chelsea sent out a huge statement of intent with their impressive first-half display against Burnley on Monday night.

After the first weekend of Premier League fixtures of the new campaign, Chelsea are by far the major favourites to lift the title come May next year.

And, of all the teams over the opening weekend, Chelsea fielded the join tallest starting XI, while London and title rivals Arsenal were a huge four inches smaller on average.

Blues keeper Thibaut Courtois was tallest player to start a game last weekend (6ft 6in), while Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla was the smallest (5ft 6in).

Will this have a say in the title race? Probably not. But Chelsea are certainly towering over their title rivals already this season…
