Chelsea look set to be forced out of a move for PSG midfielder Adrien Rabiot, according to the Metro.

The Blues were interested in signing the highly-rated midfielder, but have been dealt a blow after Rabiot damaged his medial knee ligaments.

The Frenchman suffered the injury during PSG’s victory over Bordeaux, after he had scored in front of Chelsea’s scouts. But after picking up the injury, which is set to keep him out of action for a few months, Jose Mourinho will hold back on a move for the 18-year-old, and wait until the summer to make their approach.

Rabiot has scored once from his 17 Ligue 1 appearances this campaign, a surprising amount for his age, and at a club with the squad depth and financial ability of the French champions. And his impressive performances have caught the attention of ‘the special one’, who, despite already having a host of talented midfielders at his disposal, is keen on bringing the Frenchman to Stamford Bridge.

One space has been made in the midfield for Rabiot though, after Kevin de Bruyne completed a permanent move to German side Wolfsburg, for a surprising €20million.

The Blues face Manchester United on Sunday as they look to win their first Premier League title since 2010.
