Czech star denies Arsenal transfer rumours
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has rejected rumours suggesting he could be set to move to Arsenal in the summer, according to Sky Sports.
Speculation has grown suggesting that Arsene Wenger is ready to replace Wojciech Szczesny, with Petr Cech at the top of his wish list. However, Sky Sports are reporting that Cech has no intention to play at the Emirates next season:
“It is an interesting piece of news but it is such speculation that I think it’s not even necessary to comment on it,” Cech told isport.blesk.cz.
“To be honest, I can’t imagine it. I don’t even normally notice such rumours. I don’t take rumours like these seriously.”
Reports suggested Chelsea were preparing to make Belgian youngster Thibaut Courtois the number one for next season, when he returns from his successful loan spell with Atletico Madrid.
The 20-year-old has enjoyed a wealthy 2-year spell with the Spanish club, getting regular first team football and helping the club win both the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup last season.
But Cech doesn’t seem unsettled by these reports, and seems happy to fight for his place with the European champions instead of moving elsewhere.
Cech will now turn his focus on the international break, and will make his 100th cap for the Czech Republic if he features in either of their matches against Denmark and Armenia.
