Didier Drogba’s reception at Stamford Bridge was surely going to be full of positives as he is regarded as a hero when he helped Chelsea win the Champions League two years ago.

But rather being riled up by the crowd and playing better, were the fans too nice? Drogba had nothing to be angry about, nor did he have anything to build him up. The Blues fans even sang his name even though Drogba was playing for opponents Galatasaray.

Nothing changed as he was handed a free kick in the first half which many should fear due to his powerful and accurate set pieces, but instead Drogba scuffed it big time.

Watch as his free kick flew over the Chelsea wall, the Chelsea goal, and even the bottom tier, as his shot hit a large banner reading ‘Drogba Legend’ on the stand’s upper tier. Ironic from the striker, but somehow poetic in itself…
