Sky Sports are reporting that former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba is hopeful of securing a move to Italy in the January transfer window according to his agent.

The Ivorian target man is looking for a way out of his contract with Shanghai Shenhua and will be allowed to terminate it if he receives an offer.

The 34 year old has been training with Chelsea over Christmas to keep his fitness levels high but an emotional return to Stamford Bridge just six months after he left looks out of the question.

Instead Juventus and AC Milan have reportedly shown a keen interest in signing the player on a free in January.

Drogba would of course be allowed to play in the Champion League knock-out stages in the coming months and that would boost the Italians’ temptations.

It would be quite something for Drogba to win the Champions League twice in two seasons with different clubs but if a move to Italy goes through, that could be a real possibility.

“Didier has a termination agreement with the Chinese club and I think he has a lot of possibilities to arrive in Italy in January,” Bajo told tuttomercatoweb.com.

“There is real interest from Juventus and AC Milan, and it is the same from Didier regarding the transfer.

“There have been contacts with both clubs and next week we will hear from them again.

“He would love to compete in one of the world’s best leagues, such as the Italian Serie A.”
