Didier Drogba believes that Chelsea have been wise in the transfer market this summer ahead of another challenge for the Premier League title.

The Ivorian veteran was announced as a Stamford Bridge player for the second time in his glittering career last week, becoming the club’s fourth big addition in recent months.

Jose Mourinho has suggested that his transfer business for the current window is now over, meaning that Filipe Luis, Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas are the Blues’ three major arrivals, other than Drogba himself, this off-season.

Chelsea narrowly missed out on a league and European double last term in a sometimes stuttering campaign, but now the Londoners are being backed as one of the likely candidates to take Manchester City’s crown.

Drogba believes that his new side have done some smart business, with Fabregas and Costa particularly wise purchases:

“It was very important for us to buy these players, they are all good signings.” He is quoted by the Daily Star.

“To have Cesc with us, I think he’ll understand it’s better to be with us than against us.

“They are good players and I hope they will bring their talent and experience to the team.

“I’ve been watching Diego [Costa] play over the last few years and the first time I saw him I really liked him as a player.

“I like his character, he’s solid, he can score goals and he’s also technically gifted. He likes people to respect him and that’s important.”
