Everton appear to be preparing to announce the capture of Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku this evening.

The 21-year-old Belgium international netted 15 goals in 31 Premier League appearances whilst on loan at Goodison Park this season, and 17 in 35 for West Brom the season before.

So there’s little wonder Roberto Martinez has worked hard to bring him back to the club on a permanent basis, while it’s a complete mystery why Jose Mourinho didn’t see him in his plans at Chelsea.

And a recent graphic has been circulating the Internet that shows just how prolific Lukaku has already been in his career – remember he’s still only 21 – and how he fares against Europe’s elite forwards at such a specific stage in his career.

So below is a chart that shows how many league goals some of the world’s best strikers scored by the time they were 21.
