Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has celebrated the impact of interim manager Rafael Benitez.

The Spanish coach has come under immense pressures since taking over from Roberto Di Matteo last month, with some sections of the crowd calling for his departure due to a poor run of Premier League results.

The Blues got back to winning ways against Sunderland over the weekend, with Torres netting twice in a 3-1 victory.

He was happy with the result and hailed the work being done by Benitez:

“We are playing a bit differently,” He told the club’s official website.

“We don’t pass the ball as much as we did before in the final third of the pitch and we try to play more direct and explode the players forward with Victor Moses or me or Eden Hazard on the left.

“We are using the quality of Oscar or (Juan) Mata in the middle and we are attacking more and making more chances.

“Normally it takes some time when a new manager arrives and changes things like this, but the results last Wednesday and on Saturday are going to give us more confidence, the only thing we need now.”

Before his brace against the Black Cats, Torres was on a run of 12 hours without a Premier League goal, leading many fans and pundits to question his position with the Chelsea squad.
