Inter Milan president Erick Thohir has confessed that the club may be forced to sell Chelsea target Fredy Guarin.

The Blues have been linked with Colombian midfielder in recent weeks, with some reports suggesting that a £14m deal was all but sealed heading into this month’s transfer window.

However, that proved not to be the case, with the 27-year-old still plying his trade in Serie A.

However, contact is thought to have been made between the Londoners and Guarin, which has been enough to turn the South American’s head.

Thohir – an Indonesian businessman who recently bought Inter Milan – admitted that he would like to keep a player of the bombarding midfielder’s qualities, but that it may be difficult to do so now.

“Guarín is a great player, I like him a lot. We would obviously love to keep him, but the situation in Europe is not like in Indonesia,” Thohir told The Mirror.

“When there are great offers from big clubs, we have to take them into account. And above all, we can’t make a player stay when his heart is not in it, but at another club.”

Manchester United have also been linked with Guarin, as have Southampton.
