John Terry believes talks over a new deal could begin in the summer but says there is no rush to sort out his Chelsea future.

Much has been made of the fact that Terry has yet to agree fresh terms at Stamford Bridge, with reports claiming he could follow Frank Lampard out of the exit door.

However, unlike Lampard, Terry still has another year to run on his current deal and says they will begin talks over a new one when the time is right for all concerned.

“People have to realise that I’ve got a year left at Chelsea after this,” Terry revealed. “People have spoken about no new contract and this kind of thing but it’s not even on the agenda at the moment.

“They may sit down with me once the season has finished and we’ll start talking then. Whether it’s a yes or a no I’ll continue to give my very best until my contract finishes.”
