Fulham.

The Blues were unable to break the deadlock at home to their London rivals in a game of few clear-cut chances.

The result sees the Stamford Bridge-based outfit slip seven points adrift of top spot, but Benitez believes they can still mount a serious challenge:

“Why can’t we? It’s still a long way to go. We have to keep going. We’ll have chances.” He responded when asked by SkySports if his team can win the league.

“Remember, last season when City were ahead and it was ‘easy’. Then they needed to win their last game.

“It’s a long, long competition.”

Fernando Torres endured another frustrating 90 minutes, but his manager believes that a return to top form is close:

“We have had maybe five training sessions so far; it is too early but for me we are watching things that are positive.”

The home crowd once again jeered the ex-Liverpool boss, but he insists that the criticism is driving him on to improve the team’s fortunes:

“It’s not easy to say how long. Hopefully the game against West Ham will be better.

“If we play home or away we cannot control this (the crowd). We will play away and try to do our best and if we play at home we will try to do the same.”
