Didier Drogba says that re-joining Chelsea was an “easy decision” for him.

The Ivorian veteran was yesterday announced as a Blues player, as he penned a one-year deal after being released by Galatasaray.

Drogba last kicked a ball for Chelsea during their 2012 Champions League Final appearance as he supplied the winning goal in the penalty shootout against Bayern Munich.

That moment capped an impressive stint at Stamford Bridge, in which he won three league titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups and the aforementioned European Cup.

At 36, Chelsea’s decision to bring back the experienced star came as a bit of a shock, and Drogba himself says that he simply could not refuse the chance to play for Londoners again under Jose Mourinho:

“It was an easy decision – I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to work with Jose again,” he told the club’s website.

“Everyone knows the special relationship I have with this club and it has always felt like home to me.

“My desire to win is still the same and I look forward to the opportunity to help this team. I am excited for this next chapter of my career.”
