In a system with two deep-lying midfielders there is opportunity for one of them to break forward. If both were to do this at the same time it will cause big problems and leave holes in defence, something that we may have seen happen at Chelsea.

You should also remember that from what we understand Roman Abramovich wants to see his club playing free flowing Barcelona-esque attacking football, to do this and have two central midfielders who weren't allowed to go over the halfway line would be impossible.

Lampard may sometimes shoot when the pass is a better option but at 10+ goals for 10 seasons I think I would let the man shoot.

I would also suggest other dms find themselves in similar positions to Lampard regularly but just lack his goalscoring ability. Maybe Lampard playing alongside Mikel would be more balanced than alongside Ramires.

I think that Frank is really excelling as he knows this is his last season and is almost relaxed due to that. He is probably looking forward to a fresh challenge as I think like Beckham he's not so insular as a lot of our footballers.

You can't be serious. He scores goals, but the team is losing. As a dm, he shouldn't really be putting himself in a position to score goals, as this is leaving his team exposed. Chelsea is right to not offer him another contract, as his selfishness only serves himself-not the team.
