Chelsea interim boss Rafa Benitez has told his players that he could be at Stamford Bridge for years to come according to the Sunday Mirror.

The Chelsea players are expecting the unpopular manager to be sacked before the end of the season after the Blues crashed out of the League Cup, Club World Cup and the title race under Benitez as well as having a replay with Brentford in the FA Cup.

However the Spaniard has told his Chelsea crop that he may be at the West London club not just until the end of the season but for years to come after that.

Many see this statement as one of desperation by Benitez after yet another defeat, this time at the hands of an improving Newcastle yesterday.

It is unlikely that Benitez is even being considered for the Chelsea job long term after his poor performance in the past few months and his terrible relationship with the supporters.
