Crystal Palace look set to re-sign Wilfried Zaha from Manchester United just 18 months after letting the winger sign at Old Trafford, according to reports from The Mirror.

The two-time England international officially became a Red Devil in January 2013, but he was immediately loaned back to the Eagles before linking up with his new side last summer.

Despite his billing as one of the nation’s top talents Zaha has made little impact at United, with former boss David Moyes appearing to not rate his abilities before sending him to Cardiff for the end of the 2013/14 campaign.

New chief Louis van Gaal has used the opening weeks of his tenure at the Theatre of Dreams to assess his inherited players, and it is understood that he’s deemed the 21-year-old to be expendable.

Reports claim that although the likes of Newcastle and West Ham have been credited with an interest, the youngster wants to return to Selhurst Park to get his fledgling career back on track.

A £2m fee for a loan move for the coming season is expected to be paid, but United are pondering taking a big hit on the £15m spent on Zaha to get him out of the door while his value is still high.

Palace are keen on both options, with members of the club having hinted in the past that he would be welcome back in south London.
