England squad ahead of Wednesday’s friendly against Sweden.

The 20-year-old has been drafted in due to injuries suffered by Wayne Rooney and Theo Walcott and could be in line for his first Three Lions cap, according to the Daily Mail.

Zaha, who has been in fine form for the Championship team, took to Twitter to voice his happiness:

“Wow, everything’s happening so fast” He said.

The attacker drew special praise from his manager Ian Holloway following Palace’s 2-1 victory over Peterborough on Saturday:

“It is wonderful to see such an exhilarating, exciting player – to run with the ball like that, and outrun people running without the ball, is amazing”

He was also the subject of admiration of Posh manager Darren Ferguson

“(He is) the best player outside of the Premiership, hands down. At times he was unplayable.

“Since the first time I saw him I thought he was going right to the top.”

Zaha is the first second-tier player to receive a senior international call-up since Jay Bothroyd in 2010, when he was playing for Cardiff.

The move could be a tactical manoeuvre from the FA, who are aware that the attacker is eligible to represent the Ivory Coast, the nation he was born in.

Both Raheem Sterling and Carl Jenkinson, who could play for Jamaica and Finland respectively, are also in the squad for the friendly.
