Neil Warnock is considering a move for Norwich’s Sebastien Bassong as he plots to keep Crystal Palace clear of relegation, according to reports from talkSPORT.

The former QPR boss was announced as Tony Pulis’ permanent successor yesterday, and is desperate to get fresh faces in before the transfer window closes on Monday night.

With funds at his disposal, the 65-year-old has set his sights on Bassong, and is confident that he can lure the defender back into the Premier League.

The Cameroon international was relegated with the Canaries last season, and his experience of the English top tier – the 28-year-old has also turned out for Newcastle and Tottenham – has attracted Warnock.

Bassong is rumoured to be available for as little as £2m, with the East Anglians having not used him once yet this season in the Championship.

Palace have already signed Brede Hangeland and Martin Kelly to bolster their backline this summer, but Warnock is still keen to get more bodies in as he plots to avoid a drop to the second tier.

If the £2 million is putting you off I’m sure we can have a whip round and pay you more to take him ;)
