Holland boss Louis van Gaal has put himself firmly in contention for a summer switch to either Manchester United or Tottenham by claiming that he is keen to manage in the Premier League.

The Oranje chief’s current contract expires after the World Cup later this year, and he is widely being tipped to succeed either of the current coaches at Old Trafford or White Hart Lane.

David Moyes’ position at United is believed to be on shaky ground after a difficult season, while Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is rumoured to be looking to replace the inexperienced Tim Sherwood with an established manager.

Van Gaal has been heavily linked with both positions, and says that the prospect of life in the Premier League is something that excites him:

“It is my ambition to become coach of one of the big teams once again,” he is quoted by The Express.

“In the Premier League. I have never felt the atmosphere there before.”

The Dutchman is one of Europe’s most experienced coaches, with a record of 15 major trophies testament to his managerial abilities.

He has claimed league titles in Holland with AZ Alkmaar and Ajax, Germany with Bayern Munich and two in Spain with Barcelona as well as numerous continental and domestic cups in a glittering career.

Adding further fuel to the rumours of a move to England, van Gaal claims that he is keen to secure another nation’s top prize to add to his collection:

“And I also want to win the championship in four countries,

“That is my ambition. I want to accomplish that.”
