Everton manager Roberto Martinez is already plotting to keep Gerard Deulofeu at the club for another season, according to reports from The Mirror.

The Spanish starlet is currently on loan for 2013/14 at Goodison Park from La Liga giants Barcelona, and has been impressive after a slow start to his spell on Merseyside.

Now Martinez is desperate for another campaign with the 20-year-old in his ranks, and has already made it clear to the Catalans that he wants him to stay.

The Toffees are currently on the verge of a monumental top four finish, and their manager is aware that he will need to keep numbers and quality in his squad high to cope with the demands of top level European football and domestic action.

Barca have already been reported to be looking at bringing their youngster back after receiving a two window transfer ban, but Martinez is hopeful that with guaranteed action his parent side may be willing to let him stay to develop.

Everton are said to be willing to fund his entire wage – a hike from their current percentage deal – which may also be tempting for the Nou Camp side.
