Everton boss Roberto Martinez has revealed that he wants to bring Romelu Lukaku back to Goodison Park from Chelsea this summer.

The powerful Belgian spent 2013/14 in the blue half of Merseyside on loan, plundering 15 Premier League goals for the Toffees.

He has since left Everton after his temporary deal expired, but there is much doubt surrounding his future with his parent club.

Chelsea are thought to be reluctant to use him as a first-team player, which has led to links with both Juventus and Atletico Madrid.

Yet there have been reports in recent days that Martinez’s side are back at the front of the queue, and the Spaniard himself says that he would love to get the young forward back:

“Rom fits in really, really well at Goodison,” he told talkSPORT. “We created a fantastic bond with the player and the player with the fans and that is something that we would love to extend.

“It is difficult to say because he is not our player and I would never be disrespectful in that respect. He enjoyed his time at Everton, he developed as a footballer and we hope the parent club, Chelsea, were very happy with that loan relationship.

“Whatever happens in the future, at the moment there is not much we can speak about.”
