Former Everton midfielder Lee Carsley has called on Ross Barkley to turn down a possible summer move to stay at Goodison Park so he doesn’t suffer the same fate as Jack Rodwell.

The Toffees ace has emerged as one of the Premier League’s top youngsters in recent times, with his impressive displays having booked him a spot in England’s World Cup squad.

Naturally, interest in the 20-year-old is high with Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea having all been linked with moves for his signature in the past few months.

In 2012 Rodwell was Everton’s promising talent, but he opted to leave to join City, where he has slipped off of the radar.

Carsley wrote in his column for the Liverpool Echo that he believes Barkley must stay on Merseyside for the good of his career, and that the example set by the now Sky Blues midfielder is one he should not follow:

“Roberto Martinez is spot-on to suggest that Goodison Park is the perfect place for Ross Barkley.

“He’s an Evertonian, the fans love him and the club stuck by him during his injuries which I’m sure he’ll always be grateful for.

“bviously if Ross makes a big impact with England at the World Cup this summer we’ll get all the inevitable transfer gossip rumours but the truth is that Ross would be better off staying at Everton and I reckon he’s clever enough to realise that.

“The grass is not always greener.

“A couple of years ago Jack Rodwell was a top Premier League midfielder with Everton who had just broken into the England team.

“I know he’s had injuries but I haven’t heard of him since he went to Manchester City.”

Carsley is a moron as is Malcolm Kitchen, the only reason Rodwell has not been a success is because since leaving Everton he’s been injured all the time. He left Everton injured and has hardly ever played for Manchester City FC because of injuries. You narrow minded, blinkered and unintelligent bunch of morons.

If Rodwell didn’t have all these injuries that Everton always seem to cause to their youth, then Rodwell would be an English amazing player. Manchester City had the same problem with Michael Johnson, he picked up injury after injury.

This is a clear case of Carsley a desperate man using anything as an excuse to trick Barkley into staying at Everton. you bunch of clowns.
