Everton hero Ian Snodin feels that Ross Barkley has still got a few seasons left at Goodison Park, and that when he does go he will join a big European club.

The midfielder emerged as one of the Premier League’s best young players last season on the back of a series of impressive outings for the Toffees, and was one of only a handful of England stars to escape the World Cup failings with his reputation boosted.

The likes of Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United and even bitter local rivals Liverpool have been linked with the 20-year-old in recent times, sparking talk that Everton will be unable to keep him.

But Snodin believes that Barkley will remain a Blue for the foreseeable future:

“He’s only a young boy. He’s got many years in a blue shirt.” He told the Daily Star.

“Ross will be a wanted player because he’s terrific.

I’m not thinking about Ross Barkley leaving.

“He’s got another few seasons at Everton first.”

Snodin went on to say that if Barkley leaves he will join a top European club, and certainly not Liverpool:

“I don’t think Liverpool would have much of a chance signing him. I don’t think Ross would like to upset Evertonians and go across the park.

“If he’s going to go anywhere, which he probably will do one day, he will go to one of the top clubs in Europe.

“And if he does happen to go in the next few seasons, he’ll go for a lot of money.”
