Everton look set to miss out on a deal for Standard Liege striker Michy Batshuayi, after the Belgian ace confirmed that he will not be on the move this month.

The Toffees have been heavily linked with the 20-year-old forward over the course of the past few weeks, with Roberto Martinez said to be keen to snap up a long-term replacement for on-loan ace Romelu Lukaku.

Batshuayi has been outlined as the ideal man to take the Merseyside club onto the next level, with European qualification for next season not out of the question.

However, a January move isn’t on the cards, with the youngster having revealed that he will stay at Standard until the end of the season.

“I will finish the season at Standard Liege,” Batshuayi told the The Metro.

“Beyond that, I don’t know, but I won’t be going anywhere before the summer.”

Meanwhile, Everton are set to land one front-man this month, with Lacina Traore expected to formalise a loan deal from Monaco to Goodison Park in the coming days.

The 6ft. 8” Ivorian was set to join West Ham, but Martinez made a late move and is excited by the prospect of snapping up his man after a work permit was granted.

“Lacina is a player I really like and would fit in really well in the role we want the player to come in to. He is a very talented footballer,” Martinez said.
