Everton midfielder Thomas HitzlspergerThomas Hitzlsperger is hoping to repay the faith new club Everton have given him by scoring a few of his trademark long-range efforts in the Premier League this season.

The German midfielder, nicknamed ‘der Hammer’, has earned himself a reputation of scoring unstoppable long range efforts during his career.

And the former Aston Villa, Lazio and West Ham man, who made his Toffees debut as a late substitute in the 2-1 home win against Sunderland last weekend, is hoping he can do the same for Everton.

He told the Liverpool Echo: “Everybody was saying before the game, if I get the chance then have a shot on goal.

“One did fall for me but unfortunately I could not get it on target. I should have done better but there are more games to come and I will think about it carefully.”

The 30-year-old is on a short-term deal until January at Goodison Park and was pleased to finally make his first appearance for the club after two months of training.

“The whole time I have been here, it is such a good place to be and I want to play more and contribute more to the club’s success,” he added.

“I was delighted to get on to the pitch as I have been waiting to get a chance for a long time.

“I have been training with the lads for two months now and hopefully I will get more opportunities in the next few weeks.”

Has glass bones in his legs. Should be encouraged not to kick too hard or Everton will be paying him to sit at home like his other clubs had to.
