Everton’s Seamus Coleman says that the club are determined to end their near 20 year wait for a trophy by claiming this season’s FA Cup.

The Toffees will face Arsenal in the quarter final of the competition, and are potentially just three games from lifting their first piece of silverware since 1995.

With Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool already out of the competition, Everton are one of the favourites to claim victory thanks to their fine league form this season.

Manager Roberto Martinez also possesses experience in the tournament after guiding Wigan to a shock triumph last season.

Coleman knows that there is still a long way to go, but is hopeful that the Merseysiders can get past Arsenal and go on to lift the trophy:

“We want to go as far as we can in the cup,” he is quoted by Sky Sports.

“It is going to be a difficult draw but you have to beat them all at some stage if you want to win and there are some good teams still in it.

“I’ve been here five years now and I’ve not won anything so it would be nice to win and there are other lads who have been here longer who want to win it as well.

“It would lift the club as a whole. Winning an FA Cup is massive for any club and it would be as big for us and a big stepping stone for other things.”

Everton came close to reaching the FA Cup final in 2012, but they were knocked out in the semi-final by bitter rivals Liverpool.
