Everton have made excellent use of the loan system this season, signing three players in the summer, two of which have been vital in their climb and stay near the top of the Premier League table. Had it not been for Gerard Deulofeu’s injury, he’d join Gareth Barry and Romelu Lukaku in having a big say in the outcome of Everton’s season.

But the club should be looking down the road to the summer and how they’ll replace the contributions of Lukaku in attack. With Everton’s ability to spend nowhere near to matching those around them in the league, they’ll need to rely heavily on a good scouting network to unearth a couple of gems who are far from the spotlight.
