The Football association will be investigating Monday night’s U-21 game between Manchester United and Liverpool.

The game, played at Langtree park stadium, was subject to a few incidents with a fan running onto the pitch and hurling abuse at Liverpool’s striker Adam Morgan before attempting to fight stewards as they tried to carry him away.

There were also two separate instances of flares being lit and being thrown onto the pitch, as well as reports of distasteful chants amongst the fans.

The Merseyside police have said that there have been no official reports or complaints made to them from the game.

The FA are expected to conduct an investigation into the game to find out what occurred and they have confirmed that they will be writing to the two clubs.

The North-west clubs have always have had a bit of rivalry, especially in the Premier League, and this isn’t the first instance where there has been trouble at a youth team game.

At Anfield two years ago fans were kicked out of the stadium for singing offensive chants about the Hillsborough and Heysel tragedies, which saw three people arrested and six kicked out of the stadium.
