Fulham loanee keen on permanent move
Sascha Rieither is hopeful that his temporary move to Fulham will become a permanent one this summer.
The German full-back is currently on loan with the Cottagers from Cologne, and has been impressive in his brief stint in the Premier League.
Reportedly, there is an option in the deal to allow the West Londoners to make the move permanent, and his 27 top flight appearances this term would indicate that a switch could be on the cards.
Riether has revealed that he would be keen to conclude a transfer should there be the opportunity to do so:
“I’d like to remain here. Fulham have an option to buy me and so I think in the next few weeks there will be talks about my future.” He is quoted by Sky Sports via the club’s official website.
“At the moment I can’t really say what will happen. But I like it here and I’m thankful that Fulham gave me a chance to play in the Premier League.”
Riether has made 31 first-team appearances this season, quickly becoming a crowd favourite at Craven Cottage, due to his work rate and commitment.
Despite this, manager Martin Jol says that there is no need to rush a decision on the player’s future, hinting that the situation will be reviewed at the end of the season:
“With Riether, we can take that option until the last month so I don’t see the pressure to do it now.
“We can take the option or not take the option.”
