Fulham manager Martin Jol is pleased with his business in the January transfer window.

The Dutchman swooped for a number of new faces in a bid to steer the Cottagers clear of potential relegation from the Premier League.

The bulk of the Londoners’ arrivals came on short-team loan deals.

Eyong Enoh, Emmanuel Frimpong, Urby Emanuelson and Stanilslav Manolev all joined from Ajax, Arsenal, AC Milan and PSV Eindhoven respectively on a temporary basis.

Although he had other targets in mind, Jol is happy with his business:

“We have to be honest. Most of these players haven’t played a lot for their clubs. That’s what you have to do take them when they are bad, when they are left-overs.” He is quoted by The Mirror.

“We had targets on the left and in midfield and we couldn’t get them but I was still happy to get Urby, who is a character and good player, and also Eyong Enoh.

Jol went on to say that he feels his new men can help keep the club in the top tier:

“First you need 36, 37 points. After that you know about 40 points, it’s always the same. If we’d beaten United and had 31 points now it would be finished.

“But if you’ve got to wait for that until the last game of the season, you’ll probably end up in hospital just before that, which is not what you want!”

Despite all of their new arrivals, Fulham were unable to get a positive result at home to Manchester United, with the Red Devils running out 1-0 winners.

Wayne Rooney grabbed the winning goal, but German right-back Sascha Reither, also on loan at the club, was happy with the team’s display:

“We had a great performance and we deserved a point.”
